Seedcamp Overview

Seedcamp is Europe's original seed fund and one of the continent's most consistent early-stage investors. Reshma Sohoni and Carlos Espinal founded the firm in 2007 with the conviction that world-class founders could build global companies from anywhere in Europe. Since then Seedcamp has deployed capital across 500+ companies, generating a portfolio enterprise value north of $100 billion.

Seedcamp writes initial cheques of €500K–€2M at pre-seed and seed, typically as the first institutional investor. The fund takes a generalist approach but has developed deep conviction in fintech, AI infrastructure, and developer tools. Co-investment relationships with Balderton, Index Ventures, and Accel at Series A are well established.

What separates Seedcamp from other European seed funds is the depth of its founder community. The firm runs a structured program of events, retreats, and peer networks that connect its 500+ founders across cohorts. This network effect is a meaningful part of the value proposition for founders joining the portfolio.

Seedcamp Interview Process

Seedcamp runs one of the more open recruiting processes in European VC. There is no single defining case study moment. Instead, candidates move through four to five conversations with different team members, each building on the last.

Early rounds focus on your background, your motivations for working in venture, and your ability to form opinions about companies and markets. Later rounds go deeper into specific investment scenarios. Expect to be asked which European startups you find compelling and why, which companies you think are overvalued, and how you would assess a founding team with no revenue and no product.

The team is looking for independent thinkers who can engage with founders at the earliest stages — when there is no data to anchor on and conviction has to come from first-principles reasoning. Showing that you can form and defend a non-obvious view matters more than having the perfect answer.

Seedcamp Careers

Seedcamp runs an analyst programme for early-career candidates. The team is lean — around 10 investment professionals — so openings are infrequent but meaningful. Most hires come through the network or direct outreach. If you are targeting Seedcamp, engaging with the firm's content, attending their public events, and reaching out directly to the partners is the most realistic path.

Previous analysts have gone on to join firms like Index Ventures, Balderton, and Accel — or have founded their own companies. The role gives genuine exposure to deal flow and portfolio company operations at a level most seed funds cannot offer.
